Various fish species for freshwater fishing
There
are thousands of fish species to choose from when you go freshwater
fishing. Two of the most popular of these are trout and salmon. These
two fish species love clean, cold water and hence they are often found
in beautiful mountainous landscapes untouched by manmade pollution.
However, freshwater fishing for these two swimmers can be expensive
due to the relative remoteness of their habitats.
You
often have to go fairly far from civilization in order to catch fish
species like the trout and salmon. Civilization destroys some
freshwater fishing habitats by making lakes and reservoirs out of what
were once rivers and by polluting clean waters. The only way most
suburban dwellers manage to catch them locally is by stocking them in
the water themselves.
Because trout and salmon are not accessible to most
of the population, many American fishermen choose other fish species
for their freshwater fishing. Animals that swim in warm water are
usually easier to find due to the proliferation of dams and lakes near
cities and towns.
Some popular fish species to angle
for in warm water are bass, walleye, catfish, and pikes. Largemouth
bass, smallmouth bass, spotted bass, and redeye bass all make up the
black bass family. The largemouth bass is found in almost every state
in the Union. These animals tend to get bigger as you move south, so
if you want to catch monsters when you are freshwater fishing, go to
Florida or Texas.
