Catch more largemouth
bass with these fishing tips

If you fish for
largemouth bass, I don’t have to tell you that there are many ways to
catch them. It’s easy to overlook some of the more effective
approaches. So here are some fishing tips designed specifically for
largemouth bass. These techniques will add to your arsenal next time
you’re out on the lake. As fishing tips go, I try to keep them
simple, since many kids and new anglers will probably happen upon this
article.
A few largemouth
bass fishing tips
Topwater
Using topwater
lures and bait to catch largemouth bass works best during low-light
periods (early morning, evening, overcast skies). One of the best
fishing tips I ever got was to watch for rolling fish on the surface,
as this is a sign that largemouths might be keen to hit a lure
presented there.
Spinnerbaits
Spinnerbaits
should be used to fish for largemouth bass on overcast days and prime
feeding times. They are also a good lure for shallow water. One of
the best fishing tips I know for spinners is to use them to cover
large flats and open water in a hurry. Then you can go back and
retrieve more slowly if you don’t get any action.
Crankbaits
Crankbaits are
easily the most common lures for catching largemouth bass. One of the
fishing tips I like best is to use a systematic approach with cranks.
Pick an area to cover, then cast and reel in using various speeds,
which means different depths as well. This works particularly well in
and around heavy cover, where the fish can be spread out vertically.
Plastic Worms
Another favorite
of largemouth bass anglers, plastic worms offer a variety of
techniques for all kinds of weather conditions. Of the many fishing
tips you’ll find, my favorite is to Texas-rig the worm (bury the end
of the hook in the body of the lure) and fish through heavy weeds or
tree stumps. You won’t get snagged, and that’s often where the real
lunker bass are hiding. Good luck!
