fishing for sailfish means the Atlantic variety, which averages 35-55
lbs., but can reach twice that size. The Florida record is 116 lbs.
The marlin off the keys are typically much larger, with whites
reaching 100 lbs. and female blues a whopping ton.

fishing for sailfish means catching and releasing. It’s the law.
Fall and Winter are the best times of year, although they can be
caught year-round. With marlin, Spring and Summer are the most
productive seasons.
For key west
fishing, sailfish prefer live bait, with most successful anglers
choosing a light trolling rig. For marlin, most fishermen choose a
trolling rig with artificial lures to cover more ocean area.
