Some tasty
trout recipes
Trout recipes
abound. Ask any 10 brown or rainbow anglers how they like their fish
cooked and you’ll likely get 10 different answers. Cooking fish really
is a wholly subjective matter of personal preferences. The following
recipes don’t even begin to give you an idea of all the possibilities.
Try many different preparations until you find one you fall in love
with!
Grilled Trout Recipe
Here’s a good,
basic recipe for grilling trout:
-
Rub olive oil
liberally into the fish’s outer body
-
Season to taste
with salt or fish seasoning
-
Place trout on
pre-heated rack, turning frequently
-
Grill for
approximately 20 minutes (vary for larger or smaller fish)
-
Optional: after
gutting, try placing chopped onion and/or tomato inside the cavity
before grilling. Mmmm-mmmm!
Baked Trout Recipe
Here’s a very
tasty way to prepare baked trout:
-
Ingredients
(per fish): 1 tablespoon salt, 1 tablespoon lemon juice, 1
tablespoon dill or parsley, 2 teaspoons wine (white is usually
best), 2 tablespoons virgin olive oil, 1 small onion (sliced thin),
½ clove of garlic (optional)
-
Grease baking
pan thoroughly
-
Lightly fry the
sliced onion and garlic
-
Heat olive oil
in a pan or skillet
-
Pour oil, fried
onion and garlic, and wine over fish
-
Bake for about
25 minutes at 375 degrees
You can also
smoke trout for another taste treat. I don’t have a recipe for that,
but you can find them on the Internet or from fellow anglers. Any way
you go, you’re in for a pleasant surprise, especially if you’ve never
eaten brown or rainbow trout before. You’ll be hooked!
