A
good fishing net and other fishing equipment
You can buy a fishing net in a wide variety of
shapes and sizes, depending on your purpose. This kind of angling
equipment is usually only necessary when you are going after larger
fish and need some help getting them into the boat. It’s also a good
item to have handy if you take little kids out to fish. A fishing net
is not the only angling equipment that will help you get a catch into
the boat, however. Many anglers use tailers as well. Gaffs used to be
used often but they are now illegal in some areas.
A
fishing net must have a mouth wide enough to collect the fish you’ve
caught, and it also must be strong enough to handle the weight. Most
trout and salmon net models are ideal for large and heavy fish. This
angling equipment is thankfully lightweight, though, and can easily be
clipped onto a vest.
A
fishing net works great for scooping up your catch and getting it into
the boat. You can also purchase angling equipment that will preserve
your fish in the water after you’ve caught it and then release it when
you are through with your expedition. These models are called keepnets.
You attach them to a bank or the edge of your boat and your catches
are able to swim inside the net until they are released.
If you do not want to use a fishing
net, you could try using a tailer to land your fish. This type of
angling equipment resembles a metal noose. It is looped around a
fish’s tail to pull it from the water. A gaff is a metal shaft that
impales a fish and it is outlawed in many areas, especially where
catch-and-release is mandated.
